The popular radio show comes to life in this hit sitcom about a wise family man, Jim Anderson, his common-sense wife Margaret and their children Betty, Bud and Kathy. Whenever the kids need advice on anything at all, they can always turn to their father, because father knows best.

Betty is afraid she is gaining weight. Jim purchased a motor scooter for Bud, but Margaret does not want him to have it. Jim backs down and sells it. But when Margaret allows Betty to wear a low-cut dress, Jim is against that.


The popular, mid-century American family TV sitcom “Father Knows Best” ran for six seasons, from 1954-1960. It won a total of six Emmy awards, including two Best Actor in a Dramatic or Comedy Series for Robert Young (February 22, 1907 – July 21, 1998) and three Best Actress acting awards for actress Jane Wyatt (August 12, 1910 – October 20, 2006). Elinor Donahue (b. April 19, 1937), Billy Gray (b. January 13, 1938), and Lauren Chapin (b. May 25, 1945) played the family’s three children.
